Partner With Us
We wish to thank Victory Apostolic Church for stepping forward to partner with us to support even more families in need and you can help as well. Please contact us if you feel that you can help us reach those that are caught in this dire situation.
Who We Are
In any way that you can help, we thank you and so does each and every person that you provide for in Venezuela.
Our Past
Doing What Was Needed
Starting out on this endeavor has been a learning experience to say the least. Getting needed supplies into an economically collapsed country is not always easy. Having the product stolen before it arrives is a very high risk. Delivery companies as we know them like UPS and DHL are either economically impossible or non-existent. The safest and most secure way in the near past has been to send our boxes of food and supplies into Cucuta, Columbia to relatives and pick up points given to us from the recipients. They then would need to find enough money to make the long trip through the Andes Mountains, cross the border bridge on foot, take local transportation to retrieve the boxes and physically carry them back across the bridge into Venezuela. Now they are ready to head back to San Cristobal, driving through multiple check points where they run a high risk of confiscation. The larger the shipments became the more conscious we became that we needed a better way to get these goods into our Venezuelan people's hands. Our last 2018 shipment that had to be hand carried across the border bridge was 55 cases, weighed 2479 pounds and cost $3,535.00 just to get it to Colombia.
Our Future
Vigilant
We have found it! We have learned of another freight company that will take the supplies on a ship to a port directly in Venezuela. From there, they will truck the boxes to a single location in San Cristobal. This allows the families to pick up their supplies in the city in which they live. The cost of this delivery is close to our previous way of shipping, but much safer and more convenient for everyone involved. We will be using this freight company for the 1st time beginning in January of 2019. The company comes to us with much praise and trust. Yes, shipping by boat is longer, approximately 22-25 days travel time, but by keeping a tight schedule and shipping more frequently we can become more efficient. This is why we MUST have all of the supplies gathered and the donations packed before each scheduled shipment date.
Our Schedule
2019
Our last shipment of 55 cases was a little overwhelming. Therefore, we have decided to divide all of our recipients into four groups. These shipments will go out on the 1st four Tuesdays of every other month.
Beginning in January and using the new shipping methods, this is what our schedule to ship looks like:
Schedule
January 8, 15, 22
March 5, 12, 19
May 7, 14, 21, 28
July 2, 9, 16, 23
September 3, 10, 17, 24
November 5, 12, 19, 26
Using this schedule and rotating the groups, we believe that we can keep the families we provide for supplied with their basic needs more often. Below is the length of time between deliveries to each group of families.
The need for having every shipment order filled, packed and complete before the shipping day cannot be emphasized enough.
Update: Our new shipper has made several successful shipment directly into Venezuela. There was a slight delay due to the trucking company not being able to find fuel to deliver the supplies. The total delivery time was 34 days and the cost was less per box than the previous shipper.
